The Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery (FoSOC) are pleased to celebrate the Old Cemetery’s 180th anniversary.
To commemorate this special occasion, this special event will feature a variety of activities including live music, an informative talk (in the Non-Conformist Chapel) and guided walks, as well as displays highlighting the history and importance of the cemetery as well as Artworks from King Edwards VI School. Both chapels on the grounds will be open to visitors throughout the day. Please note talk and walks are now bookings only.
Guests can enjoy refreshments, which will be available for most of the day in the Non-Conformist Chapel. In addition to the scheduled activities, there will be much more for attendees to see and experience during the celebration.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor James Baillie, the Right Revered Bishop of Winchester Philip Mounstephen and the Town Crier Alan Spencer will be attending the event.
FoSOC warmly welcome everyone to participate, your support and presence are greatly valued. If you are available to assist on the day, please get in touch with FoSOC by emailing fosoc1846@googlemail.com. We appreciate your willingness to help and thank you in advance for your support and help to make this a memorable day.
When visiting this cemetery, it is important to be mindful of its age. Please exercise caution and take care as you move through the grounds to ensure both your safety and the preservation of the site.
