Work by Design Chapel resident Pete Jarvis has been chosen to be exhibited at the prestigious annual exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours held at the Mall Galleries from Wednesday 21st April – Saturday 1st May 2010. Always a must-see event in the London exhibition calendar, it is renowned for displaying the paintings of notable Members of the RI as well as work selected from many new painters, working in the watercolour, from around the country. The exhibition shows uses of the medium in its wider sense, from good examples of traditional paintings to more experimental works using soluble mediums. It is an exciting display, making it a key place to buy outstanding works by living artists.
Pete’s watercolour shows a detailed view of the door and windows of the Tudor Merchant Hall in Southampton. “It was the way the shadows were cast across the building facade that attracted me first of all” said Pete. “I’m really thrilled the judges selected this piece and it has spurred me on to do more of this type of work in the future”.
